Page 46 of 75 March 2018 • 45 NATIONAL READY MIXED CONCRETE ASSOCIATION At-A-Gl A nce The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has been the lead industry advocate inside the Washington, D.C., Beltway since 1930. It works on behalf of producers, suppliers, manufacturers, service providers and other industry stakeholders through codes and standards development, promotion, and education activities to ensure ready mixed concrete is the building material of choice. Now in its eighth decade, NRMCA advances producer interests by tracking and influencing federal, state and local governments' impact on the industry; developing and implementing product enhancements and market strategies; and, offering a wide range of workforce development pro- grams. It partners with state or regional associations on promotion and market development efforts, along with legislative and regulatory concerns. To improve member service and industry outreach, NRMCA has recently structured staff within Compliance & Operations, Concrete Promotion, Engineering, Government Affairs, Local Paving, Marketing, Membership/Communications, and Structures & Sustainability Departments or Divi- sions. Senior staff members act as liaisons to these newly formed or legacy committees: Promtion; Government Affairs; Memberships; Research, Engineering and Standards; Safety, Environmental and Operations; and, Workforce Development. The newly passed Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 formally applies resilient construc- tion practice to the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development and Transportation, plus the Federal Emergency Management Agency and National Institute of Standards and Tech- nology. Provisions in the law will provide new windows of opportunity for NRMCA members and their customers.
