36 • July 2017 www.concreteproducts.com BRIEFS ACTIVITIES & APPOINTMENTS ASTM International Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates has named Vulcan Materials Corporate Man- ager of Technical Services Robin Graves this year's Award of Merit recipient. The committee's top award, conferred along with title of fellow, recognizes leadership in C09 activities; outstanding contribu- tions to improving standards for aggregate materials and concrete durability; plus, standards supporting sustainability initiatives. An ASTM member since 1992, Graves received the C09 Subcommittee Chairman Award in 2009, Committee C07 on Lime and Limestone Award of Appreciation in 2012, and C09 Katharine and Bryant Mather Award in 2016. He is currently C09 vice chairman and C07 chairman, and also has served on the ASTM Board of Directors and Commit- tee on Technical Committee Operations. Graves moved to his current position after serving as senior materials engineer for Birmingham, Ala.-based Vulcan Materials, and previously held positions with the National Aggregates Association and Chemical Lime Co. ASTM Committee C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units has named A. Rhett Whitlock, president of WDP & Associates Inc., Murrells Inlet, S.C., as 2017 Award of Merit recipient. An ASTM member since 1985, he was previously hon- ored by C15 with the Alan H. Yorkdale Memorial Award for authoring a paper on products within the committee scope of clay shale, concrete or sand-lime masonry. In addition to ASTM, Whitlock is a member of The Masonry Society, International Masonry Society, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Construction Specifications Institute. Canada Green Building Council and Green Business Certification Inc. have penned a joint venture, Green Business Certification Inc. Canada. Effective 2018, it calls for GBCI Canada to deliver all of the current and future certification and professional credential- ing services for LEED v4, WELL, SITES, PEER, Parksmart, Zero Waste and GRESB in Canada. CaGBC will continue to a) engage and sup- port the Canadian green building industry, its members and stakeholders through education and training, advocacy and research, business events and a range of other activities; b) pro- vide certification reviews and market support for LEED Canada, thereby not disrupting the existing certification model for its customers; and, c) deliver and support the new Zero Carbon Building Standard. The Construction Industry Round Table has elected Wayne Drinkward, chief executive officer of Portland, Ore.-based general contractor and construction manager Hoffman Corp., as 2017 chairman, succeeding H. Ralph Hawkins, chair- man emeritus of HKS, Inc. CIRT is the national business trade association comprised of approx- imately 120 chief executives from the leading design and construction companies doing busi- ness in the United States and globally. Joining Drinkward as 2017 CIRT officers are Vice Chairman Charles A. Bacon III, chairman of Limbach Holdings, Pittsburgh; and Treasurer Paul Franzen, president of Barnard Construc- tion, Bozeman, Mont. New directors serving on the CIRT board through 2020 are Greg Cosko of Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction, San Fran- cisco; Peter Emmons of Structural Group, Columbia, Md.; Steven Edwards of Black & Veatch Holding, Overland Park, Kan.; and, Daniel McQuade of AECOM Construction Services, New York.
