PRODUCT LISTINGS
A specialist in electromechanical and electronic products for major
truck OEM has landed in specifications for Navistar HX, WorkStar and
five other heavy duty model series. Navistar has chosen two MTA
control units for the distribution of power and the protection of the
main electrical services: the PDM Underhood and the frame-mounted
PDM Chassis.
PCM electromechanical units are specifically geared for heavy
transport, and distinguished by design choices and materials that
allow the two products to operate in particularly harsh or corro-
sion-prone environments. MTA incorporates plastics with a V-2
flammability rating and stainless steel screws. Both the Underhood
and Chassis units have thick busbars that can handle high currents at
high temperatures; areas housing the fuses have specific protection
classes (IP69K for Underhood; IP67 for Chassis).
Navistar has chosen PDM Underhood for its compact size, made
possible by the use of high-performance, next generation MaxiCom-
pact fuses. A reduction in overall device size—60 percent compared
to alternative designs—enables the Underhood to accommodate a
higher number of fuses.
MTA directly supplies pre-assembled PDM units with the target
number of fuses required for the specific application on which they
will be installed, eliminating the need for intermediate steps in Navis-
tar truck assembly and preparation. MTA also supplies the company
with a series of cabin-mounted products, among them 9-way frame
with 9 fuse modules, whose flexibility allows for different OEM con-
figurations. All modules are supplied with terminals and equipped
with a secondary lock to ensure correct insertion of the terminal and
