TRUE OPERATIONAL CONTROL from ANYWHERE and ANYTIME BRIEFS PRODUCERS Widely recognized as one of the top U.S. experts in segmental concrete pavement systems, Belgard Hardscapes by Oldcastle National Advisor Chuck Taylor received the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award at the group's summer meeting in Nashville. It honors his 30-plus years' experience with segmental paver installation firms. Over the past two decades, he has consulted with engineers, municipalities and storm water designers on interlocking and permeable paver system design, construction and maintenance. "Chuck is a pioneer in segmental concrete paving and an extremely worthy recipient of ICPI's Lifetime Achievement Award," says ICPI 2016- 17 Chairman Matt Lynch. "His commitment, insight, and guidance have helped grow the permeable interlocking concrete pavement industry and created thriving, more sustainable communities throughout the country. Our industry and many cities across the nation are better because of Chuck's work." ICPI cites among Taylor's more projects the Ports of New Orleans and Oakland; Indianapolis Cultural Trail; Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Ill.; Henley Station in Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Toyota of Vancouver; Cermak Avenue in Chicago; and, the Southeast Atlanta Green Infrastructure Initiative. The Institute also credits him with guiding the development of ASCE 58-10, a national design standard that established a structural equivalency for interlocking concrete pavers with asphalt pavement for street applications; and, contributing to the new ASTM C1782 Standard Specification for Utility Segmental Concrete Paving Slabs, addressing performance of larger dry or wet cast products. In addition, Taylor chaired the ICPI Construction Committee from 2012-2014 and served on the Contractor Education Subcommittee, help- ing create the current structure for education and installer certification programs. He also has been involved with university and agency research projects investigating pollutant removal, infiltration, and flow studies that sparked state and local agency acceptance of and increased designer confidence in permeable interlocking concrete pavement.
