96 • July 2015 Structural thermal blocks A 15-story South Side development designed by Studio Gang Archi- tects scheduled for completion this year, City Hyde Park is the first major Chicago project to incorporate Schöck Isokorb structural ther- mal breaks. The devices will be used in four concrete balconies, where they minimize thermal outflow and energy loss—contributing to energy savings, while providing occupants added thermal comfort for the residents. Schock engineers note that they effective thermal insulation methods reduces the risk of high levels of condensation, mold formation and associated damage caused along the ceiling slabs interior of the balconies. City Hyde Park will feature 180-residences, two underground lev- els for parking and a 7,700-sq.-ft. green roof. Many features are implemented to target a minimum LEED Silver certifcation. The residential units will have column-free corner balconies, operable Juliette balconies and sun-shaded cantilevered balconies. — Schöck USA Inc., 855/572 4625; HPC, GFRC admixtures Company has added three high performance formulations to a product line encompassing concrete admixtures, sealers and molds. Super- SIX-Admix is a proprietary blend designed to achieve a pinhole free, dense and strong concrete mix that will free flow in precast molds or shape to a superior finish and crisp detail. The formulation suits ultra high performance concrete mixes of self-flowing consistency or with shapeable, clay-like properties for molding, carving or rolling. A premium all acrylic high solids polymer emulsion made specifcally for glass fber reinforced concrete, KongKrete Liquid Polymer product is UV stable and freeze thaw stable for shipping in winter months, and packaged in 5-gal. buckets or 55-gal. drums or totes. KongKrete Dry Acrylic Polymer is a premium, free fow- ing powder polymer for high per- formance concrete, available in 5-, 25- or 100-lb. bags. — Fish- stone Studio Inc., Crystal Lake, Ill., 815/276-0299; www.ConcreteCoun- Curing compound EZ Strip Cure DR is a water-based, low-VOC, low-odor formulation that cures concrete to ASTM C309 and AASHTO M 148 standards. Unlike other dissipating cure products, product developers contend, it does not require UV exposure—making it suited to either indoor or out- door use. It is easily removed with light mechanical or hand abrasion after curing is complete. Low pressure water spray can be used for removal in outdoor conditions. EZ Strip Cure DR application entails standard spraying equip- ment. The compound will not clog or load diamond polishing tools and, therefore, does not require removal from substrates that are to be diamond polished. It dissipates quickly for early removal with a low rpm foor buffer, walk behind or riding foor cleaner with stiff bristle pads, 100 grit sandpaper or 100 grit abrasive screen, or stiff bristle hand-held brushes. Ease of removal makes the compound a good candidate for surfaces scheduled to receive subsequent treatments with dustproofers, liquid hardeners and densifers, penetrating water repellent, poly- mer coatings or other foor coverings. — ChemMasters, Inc., Madi- son, Ohio, 800/486-7866; Building enclosures Company has added the Metal Building series to its line tension fabric structures for plant or storage enclosure solutions. It offers steel side walls with the integrity of the company's Hercules Truss Arch frame. Since there are no internal support posts, the building allows for maxi- mum usable space. The metal building is design-built to any need and can be engineered to meet any required building codes or snow/wind loads. Every building package is engineered with foundation options assuring quick installation. Helical Anchors, for one, are classified as temporary but can remain as long as needed without replacements. They involve minimal site work and do not require a poured founda- tion. Buildings are available up to 300-ft. wide and feature a 20-year warranty on the cover and a 50-year warranty on the frame. — Clear- Span Structures, 866/643-1010; INNOVATIONS EQUIPMENT & PRODUCTS
