Page 22 of 55 August 2014 • 17 In addition to centennial observances in Toronto, ASTM Committee C09 recognized NRMCA Senior Vice President of Engineering Colin Lobo with the Award of Merit and ASTM Fellow title. As the Society's highest individual recognition, the award is based on nominations from peers citing candidates' service on a range of levels. The committee under- scores Lobo's "outstanding contributions to technology transfer, spec- ifications for concrete materials, test methods for fresh and hardened concrete, evaluation of data, and assessment of laboratories." Lobo chairs the ASTM Cement and Concrete Laboratory (CCRL) Executive Group plus the joint ASTM C01/C09 CCRL subcommittee, and is Subcommittee C09.40 on Ready-Mixed Concrete secretary. He was named an honorary Committee C01 on Cement member in 2012 and received the C09 Katharine and Bryant Mather Member Contribution Award in 2006. At NRMCA, he is responsible for engineering, research, technical training, certification and standards activities. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Mysore in India; mas- ter's from Northeastern University; and, doctorate from Purdue Univer- sity. As an American Concrete Institute member—and ACI Fellow since 2002—Lobo serves on Committees ACI 301 on Specifications for Struc- tural Concrete and ACI 318 on Building Code for Structural Concrete. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and has served on American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and Federal Highway Administration advisory panels.
