Page 62 of 73 August 2019 • 61 INNOVATIONS REPORT OSHKOSH S-SERIES Oshkosh Corporation capped the S-Series Reveal gathering with a look at an all-electric technology demonstrator model, bearing 8-yd. drum and prodigious batteries in lieu of diesel engine and exhaust treatment. A proof of concept vehicle that has successfully executed ready mixed deliv- ery and placement duty cycles, the S-Series SDX 300 is subject to additional engineering prior to any formal field demonstrations and production planning. The SD stands for "silent drum." Oshkosh programmed ClearSky in house. The telematics platform drives a message of minimiz- ing TCO (total cost of ownership) through the tracking and report- ing of driver or vehicle location and productivity, along with main- tenance metrics. Extensive data capture feeds a robust analytics offering from which ready mixed producers can customize dash- boards and other management tools. Shown here are sample sum- maries of daily fleet output; an individual truck's site and plant proximity, plus slump, water and fuel levels; and, analytics snapshot for the same sample vehicle. POWER PREVIEW: INDUSTRY'S FIRST ELECTRIFIED MIXER TRUCK Oshkosh customers and officials were joined at the 2019 Innova- tion Day-themed unveiling by representatives of lead S-Series development partners to discuss the role of their now-standard components: Cummins X12 engine in 380- or 430-hp ratings; Dana Commercial Vehicle Driveline Technologies D46-172 rear tandem suspension; and, Kawasaki M7V variable displacement hydraulic motor. The Cummins and Dana components are key to the new model's weight savings, while the Kawasaki motor helps improve fuel efficiency. Next generation S-Se- ries production will be scheduled for early-2020 deliveries.
