FEATURE READY MIXED R AY F I E L D H A R R I S GCC MIDCONTINENT CONCRETE Rayfield Harris joined GCC Midcontinent nine years ago, transitioning from dump truck driver with a former employer to the GCC Service Delivery Professional ranks. Colleagues and managers observed early on his tendency to work diligently to fulfill customer and company needs—the start of a concrete work record free rejected loads, customer complaints against him, company vehicle or plant accidents, and worker's compensation claims. "In 30-plus years, I have never seen a more dedicated employee than Rayfield," says GCC Midcontinent District Manager Kevin Jackson. "We consistently get calls regarding his level of commitment to our customers. He is a mentor to our younger Service Delivery Professionals and shining example of what all ready mixed delivery pros should strive to emulate." A certified Smith System Defensive Driver Trainer, Harris routinely handles new driver training and orientation duties. His driving record, coupled with involvement in community affairs, made him the ideal candidate to drive the Tulsa plant's pink truck—one of six such mixers GCC acquired fleet-wide in 2012 to promote the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition to jobsites, Harris steers the pink truck to Race for the Cure, Touch a Truck, Turn Tulsa Pink theme events, plus area job fairs. "When Rayfield first showed up in his new pink truck, I asked him what did he do to get stuck driving it—giving him a hard time," admits Frank Jugler of Tri-Star Construction in Tulsa. "He informed me that there was only one pink mixer truck in Oklahoma and he was proud to drive it." That first load in the pink truck was among many over the past five years that has led Jugler to conclude of Harris: "He goes above and beyond his job duties and Midcontinent is very fortunate to have him as an employee." TULSA, OKLAHOMA Prior to the pink truck's inaugural load, Rayfield Harris offered a preview to Susan G. Komen Foundation Tulsa Chapter (from left) Executive Director Christy Southard, Affiliate Bookkeeper Louise Iron and Special Events Manager Bria Moore. WWW.CONCRETEPRODUCTS.COM MARCH 2013 | 31
