36 • May 2019 www.concreteproducts.com COVER STORY READY MIXED Casilio Concrete has been a staple in the Lehigh Valley ready mix scene since 1938 when it was known as Frank Casilio & Sons. To mark last year's 80 th anniversary, third-generation owner Maria Medei decided it was time to rebrand and display the company's true colors. When her grandfather Frank Casilio, an Italian immigrant, started the Bethlehem, Pa.-based company he wanted the color scheme to match the Italian flag. However, the trucks he ordered arrived in orange, green and white. Instead of having them corrected, he kept the color scheme and focused his efforts on delivering quality products and service as well as expanding the company. Now, thanks to his granddaughter, Casilio Concrete proudly displays its heritage with updated fleet graphics that honor the Old Country from Scribbles & Drips Lettering & Graphics of Laurys Station, Pa. The family owned and operated producer serves more than a 60-mile radius of eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey with three batch plants—located in Bethlehem, Pa., Allentown, Pa., and Kutztown, Pa.—material hauling, and a mixed fleet of nearly 30 trucks. Medei entered the business in 1981, and took the helm in 2015. She upholds the same dedication, work ethic and passion as her father John and grandfather Frank did, maintaining Casilio Concrete's reputation as an unmistakable leader in the industry. Medei is also joined at the company by the next generation: her son Tony serves as vice president and daughter Natalie serves in an executive assistant/marketing role. Tony also runs Casilio's Crushcrete facility in Hellertown, Pa. The concrete and asphalt shingle recycling center serves Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware, and observed its 20-year anniversary in 2018. Continued on page 38 A New Era Casilio Concrete celebrates 80 years with a rebranding and fleet upgrade. The Casilio Concrete fleet includes 22 front discharge and six rear discharge mixers, the latest a Mack Granite 64FR bearing 11-yd. Con-Tech. Future mixer graphics will be themed akin to the First Responders and Veterans trucks, or reflect Italian flag colors. PHOTO: Scott Krycia
