The Project: The Victoria and Albert Row housing project provides new homes for local residents in the historic dockyard area of Bermuda. The prefabricated, insulated wall and roof components were cast at Coastal Precast Systems in Virginia and shipped by barge for assembly in Bermuda. The Challenge: Although the wall panels were typical, new formwork was required to cast the gabled roof sections. The Solution: Hamilton Form designed a form to cast the intermediate roof sections in the shingle down position. The formwork to cast the gable end included a base form with chamfered edges to form the drip edge of the roof and a one-piece shingled top that bolts on the base. A second base form was supplied to allow the customer to strip the top at preset and pour a second piece. This resilient precast housing solution, not only shipped on time, but came in several million dollars under budget. The next time your project calls for a flexible formwork solution, call the experts at Hamilton Form, 817-590-2111 or Hamilton Form Company, Ltd. 7009 Midway Road • Fort Worth, Texas 76118 "Hamilton Form designed forms that made the casting process easy and efficient. The second base form allowed us to improve delivery and make the most out of our formwork investment." Joe Rose Coastal Precast Systems, Inc.
