www.concreteproducts.com March 2019 • 43 BRIEFS MANUFACTURERS Tulsa, Okla.-based Vacuworx, a specialist in vacuum lifting equipment for concrete products and slabs, has announced these appointments to its North American sales force: Jeff Bald- win, with more than 20 years of experience in extraction, construction, manufacturing and distribution, has been named regional sales manager, responsible for working with deal- ers and end users in construction or pipeline markets across Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and North Texas; Kevin Harvey, with a 22-year tenure in the construction industry, has been named Northeast Construction Equipment sales man- ager, responsible for developing a dealer network and promoting new business opportunities in throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions; and, Bernie Lailey, a 30-plus year oil, gas and pipeline industries veteran, has been named business director of Canada. "We're building on past successes and looking ahead to new opportunities in sectors connected to pipe handling, heavy infrastruc- ture and compact equipment," says Vacuworx's Randy Hayes, recently promoted to vice pres- ident of Business Development and Strategic Accounts. "What these team members bring to the table is greater capability in terms of our reach, education and support of those in search of a safer, better return on their investment." Hockenheim, Germany-based Ratec GmbH, a leading provider of magnetic formwork sys- tems and custom solutions for precast concrete producers, will arrive at the bauma 2019 trade fair, April 8-14 in Munich, under a new motto, "Ratec goes 3D," timed with a 25 th anniversary observance. Visitors to the Ratec stand (Hall B1, Number 348) can see an overview of the entire product and service range, plus a large- scale sample of an entirely new type of modular formwork—adaptable to any target room geom- etry. Formwork specialists will spotlight the pioneering modular mold kit and pilot projects. "In the 25 th year of our existence we have been able to introduce to the modular con- struction market a new and tested solution: the Ratec modular mold kit with which, in the area of room modules, an efficient answer can be found for any conceivable requirement," says Managing Director Jörg Reymann. "We are convinced that we can thus generate entirely new momentum for modular construction in the precast concrete industry." Testing specialist Intertek has opened a 70,000- sq.-ft. building and construction laboratory in Fridley, Minn., offering systemic assurance, testing, inspection and certification solutions, underpinned by innovative technology and new capabilities. The facility is located in the Northern Stacks, a new industrial distribu- tion and office/warehouse business park. Expanded lab space will enable Inter- tek staff to offer a robust set of services: full-scale indoor mock-up capabilities; air/water/structural testing; impact and pressure cycle testing; vertical façade/ roof inspections; large- and small-scale environmental chamber testing; plus, thermal testing and computer simulations. The facility is accredited by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, International Accreditation Services, National Fenestration Rating Council, International Green Construction Code, Miami-Dade County, Texas Department of Insurance, and the Florida Building Commission.
