www.concreteproducts.com February 2019 • 17 NEWS SCOPE MATERIALS Concurrent with deploying slag cement grind- ing technology from a mid-2018 acquisition of SCB International, Charah Solutions Inc. has installed companion beneficiation equipment at its Sulphur, La., terminal to improve the overall quality of ASTM C618-grade material output. Dubbed MP618 Multi-Process, the SCB-modeled method reduces loss on ignition, ammonia, acti- vated carbon and moisture in fly ash. "The launch of the MP618 technology is a significant milestone and a game changer for the beneficiation of fly ash," says Charah Solutions CEO Charles Price. "Our utility customers now have an innovative, cost-effective solution that doesn't require a significant capital investment or increase costs to rate payers. Additionally, we now expect to be able to provide a more reliable stream of fly ash to our customers." The proven thermal beneficiation tech- nology provides concrete producers and their customers a reliable source of high-quality Class F fly ash to meet a growing number of con- struction projects in the greater Lake Charles/ Sulphur region, he adds. The Sulphur terminal is Charah Solutions' second barge-supplied MP618 PROCESS PREMIER location in southern Louisiana; a sister facility in LaPlace supplies Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama customers. MP618 Multi-Process allows for beneficia- tion of both wet and dry fly ash and offers what the company contends are important advan- tages over competing technologies: It has a significantly lower cost profile; an efficient footprint with self-contained environmen- tal controls that can be deployed in months versus years; and, a modular design that can be scaled to increase production based on market demand. With the functionality to process a variety of raw feeds, MP618 equipment can be installed at operating or idled coal-fueled gen- erating stations. POUR IT BOTH WAYS. HAVE IT YOUR WAY. Choose a FRONT OR REAR MIXVEYOR. Its amazing reach (up to 52 ft.) and fl exibility let you deliver everywhere, anywhere you want. 1 888 799 4422 atlaspolar.com
