www.concreteproducts.com August 2018 • 65 Premiering in a three-axle version at World of Concrete 2018, the Charger front discharge mixer was billed as Terex Advance's first true city-class truck designed and built specifically for delivering concrete in urban areas. In advance of its fourth quarter production, Terex has promoted the Charger with demonstrations in the Southeastern market, including stops in Miami (Super- mix) and Atlanta (Thomas Concrete), with plans to visit all major metro areas in the country. "[Producers] who run a 100-percent rear discharge fleet have been impressed with the maneuverability of the truck as well as the ride quality and precision pouring," says Jared Widenhoefer, marketing manager for Terex. There are plans to build several more demos for distribution around the country, Widenhoefer notes, with the intention to promote the truck in major cities "as we feel the Terex Advance Charger is the absolute best product for these areas." The new truck's 12.4-in. charge height is more than 12 inches lower than traditional Terex Advance fronts. Total weight for the series has been reduced through design improvements and such key specs as the Cum- mins L9 engine, rated at 380 hp, and Allison 4560RDS automatic transmission. Fabricated with 3/16-in. AR400 brinell steel, the mixer drum bears on a re-engineered pedestal and is configured with a one-third, two-third weight distribution from the front to rear axles to deliver responsive driving performance. The first Char- ger front discharge mixer in production is slated to have frames punched this month. INNOVATIONS MIXER TRUCKS Terex Advance hits the road with Charger demonstrations Among the major stops on Terex Advance's promotional tour of the Charger series in the Southeast were Miami-based Supermix Concrete (above right) and Atlanta-based Thomas Concrete.
