20 • June 2017 www.concreteproducts.com Versa-Lok Retaining Wall Systems has added the Bronco II to its licensed production offering, engineering the block with heft and coverage to tackle many conditions. Units display 6 sq. ft. of surface area with a 3.2-degree batter, and weigh from 1,220 to 3,215 lbs. or 1,450 to 3,820 lbs. with cores filled. Alignment knobs and channels molded into the top and bottom of units ensure correct near-vertical positioning and allow for tight joints with variable-bond construction. The Bronco II system comprises three units with varying depth plus half, cap and left/right corner stones. They can be used to build walls up to 15 feet tall without soil reinforcement, making the system suited to projects with excavation constraints. The system likewise accommodates geogrid, such as Versa-Grid, for taller structures. With near-vertical construction and variable bond, Versa-Lok officials note, the Bronco II system is more versatile than comparable products. After installation, the natural stone appearance of the wall face can be enhanced with stain to blend into the natural environment. — Versa-Lok Retaining Wall Systems, Oakdale, Minn., 800/770-4525; www.versa-lok.com NEWS SCOPE CONCRETE MASONRY NEW WALL PROFILE WEIGHS HEAVILY ON VERSA-LOK The Florida Department of Transportation has approved Keystone Retaining Wall Systems' KeySystem II for use on state and federal highways under the agency. The system consists of Keystone Compac III units and TenCate Geosynthetics' namesake Miragrid geogrids. Under FDOT Specification Section 548: Retaining Wall Systems, Key- System II is approved as a "segmental block FDOT wall type 4A and 4B (permanent). The system is to be used with TenCate Miragrid 3XT, 5XT, 7XT, 8XT or 10XT only." KeySystem II is the only SRW block assembly to date to earn such approval. It is available in the Sunshine State through licensee Trem- ron, a leading Southeast hardscape unit producer with Jacksonville and Lakeland, Fla., and Douglasville, Ga., operations, plus design centers and installer showrooms throughout the region. The Florida transportation system is one of scale, scope and com- plexity: The state is the third most-populated in the country and has 122,659 highway miles, 20 commercial airports, 31 urban transit systems, 15 seaports, and two spaceports. Improving the safety and security of the transportation system is among the state's highest commitments to its residents and visitors. — Keystone Retaining Wall Systems LLC, Minneapolis, www.keystonewalls.com Keystone system arrives first in Florida DOT SRW specs Leading into the Florida DOT approval, engineers specified KeySys- tem II for a St. Louis Light Rail Line crossing and an Interstate 210 abutment in east Texas.
