www.concreteproducts.com May 2017 • 51 FEATURE TRUCKS & COMPONENTS Allen Ready Mix Concrete of Maryville, Mo., is the first operator to utilize Kimble Mixer Company's new K2200-RC remote control rear dis- charge mixer with optional Shumaker Industries' Rotabelt T3D16. The mixer, which is on a Western Star 4700SB, and its integrated controls were on full display at Kimble's outdoor ConExpo-Con/Agg booth. Using the K2200-RC enables the operator to stand away from the mixer and have complete control of the load. Drivers are free to maneuver the vehicle into an advantageous position, pour, and maneuver out of the jobsite: all without an additional contractor, the company notes, improving productivity and operating margins. Chassis control is made possible through the remote control system by bypassing the truck's normal drive train and controlling movement with electric-over-hydraulic power. The steering is controlled by an in-line hydraulic steering gear, independent of the chassis power steering system. This enables wireless operation of the front steer axle without using the cab steering wheel. The remote control system also includes a hydraulic powered chute, which may be raised, lowered, and swung left and right by using a joystick on an ergonomic wireless console. This eliminates the need for additional labor while the mixer is being discharged. All mixer functions are available in the remote control system, including: Drum Rotation & RPM, Engine RPM, Chute Brake, and Charge Hopper. The wireless console provides the operator with the ability to fully operate the vehicle's chassis and chute movement with the two joy- sticks; activation switches provide optimal safety. A built-in console LCD display shows mixer functions in real-time, including: battery, signal, and all mixer activity. The Rotabelt T3D mixer-mounted conveyor is an optional feature for the 2200-RC. Shumaker announced the remote control for the Rotabelt equipment in 2016 ("Truck-mounted belt, rotating chute equal precision placement," Concrete Products, January 2016). The rotating chute improves the operator's ability to place concrete more accurately, Shumaker reports, while the T3D increases the equipment's coverage by 80 percent over a fixed position conveyor. The additional reach (53 feet) allows the Rotabelt T3D16 to place concrete anywhere in a 33- x 50-ft. area without repositioning the mixer, which in turn promotes jobsite safety and curtails the maintenance result- ing from moving a truck with conveyor extended. — Kimble Mixer, 877/546-2537, www.kimblemixer.com; Western Star, 866/850-7827, www.westernstar.com; Shumaker Industries, 800/326-9349, www.shu- makerindustries.com KIMBLE • WESTERN STAR • SHUMAKER | REMOTE CONTROL MIXER
