48 • May 2017 FEATURE TRUCKS & COMPONENTS Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) stems from companies across the econ- omy deploying tablets and smartphones for business functions, but mindful of attendant information technology system security and wireless service expense con- trol. Among first movers in EMM, 42Gears Mobility Systems has facilitated data and device security installations for 6,000-plus users, including heavy-duty truck fleet operators, in over 100 countries. Flagship SureLock, SureMDM and Sure- Fox products lead 42Gears' suite of solutions supporting mobile device lockdown; website filtering for safe, restricted browsing; plus, remote management and troubleshooting of devices in the field. All operate on Android, iOS or Windows platforms. The SureLock tool allows IT administra- tors to restrict workers' access to certain mobile device applications. It helps reduce downtime tied to intentional or accidental misuse of the device; overages in mobile data consumption; and, loss of productivity due to distraction. In fleet operations, IT staff can use Driver Safety Mode, a 42Gears feature that ensures a device is partially or fully inoperable when the vehicle is in motion. SureLock also supports website filtering policies on network devices and blocking users from accessing content not explicitly authorized. SureMDM equips businesses to remotely secure, manage and monitor mobile devices in the field. With the click of a button on the web console of their preferred desktop browser, IT administrators can install apps or push software upgrades and content. A Remote Control feature provides full access to a device screen and is especially useful in troubleshooting without the need to ship mobile hardware for repairs. MATERIALS MOBILITY 42Gears' inaugural construction materi- als user is Winton, N.C.-based Commercial Ready Mix Products, Inc. (CRMP), operating 12 concrete plants in North Carolina and Virginia. With an eye to providing excellent customer service, the producer cites a com- mitment to retaining the best personnel while investing in the latest technology, modern equipment and rolling stock. To address inefficiencies surrounding routine concrete and aggregate delivery documentation, CRMP opted to equip mixer and dump truck drivers with Samsung Commercial Ready Mix adopts 42Gears' Enterprise Mobility Management Commercial Ready Mix Products embraced the dashboard view of SureMDM complete with version numbers plus battery and signal percentages. Remote support capabilities allow the producer to troubleshoot problems employees face in the field, freeing IT team members of having to drive hours to assist.
