With 10 forward and two reverse speeds, the transmission is designed for line or regional haul, plus pick-up and delivery tractor applications. A patented torque converter and twin countershaft gearbox optimize acceleration while improving fuel economy through engine down-speeding and uninterrupted power shifting in all ranges. The TC10 is inte- grated with multiple engine packages and will be offered by Kenworth for applications requiring torque up to 1,850 lb.-ft. and up to 110,000-lbs. GCW. Also offered are the 29.5-in. bumper setting, typical in dump applications, or 31.5-in. setting with a sturdy box bumper. "These provide the flex- ibility for customers to meet Bridge Formula requirements and stay under the 40-foot length limit," notes Baney. The T880S uses a number of key T880 specs, he adds: "One especially key feature is the five-piece hood design with bolt-on fenders for minimal downtime in the event of a repair.
