44 • May 2017 www.concreteproducts.com FEATURE TRUCKS & COMPONENTS A new Aggressive Performance calibration joins the company's lineup of UltraShift PLUS and Fuller Advantage automated manual transmissions. The new software feature will help vocational fleets in the highly demanding construction site environments. Engineers have enhanced the perfor- mance on grades by incorporating new, quicker shift times—estimated at 200 to 300 milliseconds faster—which allows the engine to come in at higher rpm and tackle powerful grade climbs. Better start gear selection and improved offset have also been added to pro- vide a stronger launch for ultimate control in challenging terrain. Compared to the previous Performance calibration, Aggressive Performance sig- nificantly improves acceleration—up to 2.9 seconds faster to 25 miles per hour and up to 5.4 seconds faster to 55 miles per hour. In addition, new shift strategy improvements have resulted in better deceleration rates with raised downshift points and improved skip shifting on level ground. Eaton has an extensive lineup of rugged automated transmissions for the vocational truck market with speeds ranging from 10 to 18 and maximum weight capacities from 110,000 to unlimited pounds gross combined weight rating. Available through many OEM, the UltraShift PLUS and Fuller Advantage automated transmissions offer a broad range of power takeoff compatibility and advanced features such as GearLogic technology to improve low-speed performance and driver confidence. ADVANTAGE CLUTCHES In addition to the transmission upgrade, Eaton has announced design enhancements for the Advantage Series heavy-duty clutches to improve durability, reduce harmful vibra- tions and better enable smooth, effortless shifting across a wide range of torque ratings up to 2,250 lb.-ft. Advantage Self-Adjust and Easy Pedal Advantage clutch changes include a reduction in part numbers from 41 to 28 by combining several earlier models into one. The line will still cover all commercial heavy-duty truck applications while allowing dealers to reduce inventory levels. Among additional new fea- tures or modifications: • Strap drive system, which affixes the intermediate plate to the housing on the clutches, prolongs clutch life by eliminat- ing lug fatigue that over time could lead to failures. The design also eliminates noisy EATON COMMERCIAL VEHICLE UltraShift PLUS Fuller Advantage rattle associated with the prior lug design. • Soft rate dampers effectively absorbing engine vibrations to prevent driveline damage and are now standard on all clutches. The premium damper technology enables downspeeding at all torque ratings up to 1,850 lb.-ft. • Spring separator system permits cleaner, quicker disengagement with the engine for more efficient, smoother shifting. • Second wear tab indicator added to the Advantage Self-Adjust model giving maintenance professionals better access during visual inspections. Advantage Self-Adjust clutches in a new truck application are warranted for three years/350,000 miles. The new truck warranty for Eaton Easy Pedal Advantage clutches is two years/200,000 miles. Aftermarket war- ranty coverage for both designs is two years/ unlimited miles. Release bearing lube inter- vals for all Advantage heavy-duty clutches is 50,000 miles. — Eaton Commercial Vehicle/ Roadranger, Galesburg, Mich., 800/826-4357
