www.concreteproducts.com September 2016 • 29 PRODUCERS Pennsylvania aggregate and concrete masonry producer York Building Prod - ucts recently closed on Cockeysville, Md.-based Cinder & Concrete Block Corp., a gray concrete masonry unit producer and hardscape unit distributor. "Cinder & Concrete's production capacity and existing customer base will help ensure the future growth of [our] brand, and we are excited about the integration of products between the two companies," says York Building Vice President of Operations Jason Schmitz. "This will allow us to provide a greater level of product offering, increase customer service and help us reach a broader market area," adds Cinder & Con- crete President Greg McElwee. "We believe our customers and employees will be pleased with the future course of the company." Romeoville, Ill.-based stormwater management systems developer Storm- Trap has entered a licensing and production agreement granting Lafarge Canada Inc. exclusive rights to proprietary precast concrete detention and retention products from Manitoba to British Columbia. Lafarge Canada serves western province drainage markets from precast and pipe plants in Calgary and Edmonton. StormTrap structures and components control water volumes and flows leaving a site. The large, underground concrete chambers are engineered to contain water from peak weather events, gradually releasing it at a con- trolled rate or storing it for irrigation. The systems comply with Canadian surface-loading requirements and are completely modular for customized site needs. The licensing agreement, notes StormTrap Vice President of Sales Shawn Luton, "is perfectly suited to fully leverage the potential of [our] intellectual property and serves as an ideal addition to our partnership with LafargeHolcim." "StormTrap further adds to environmental and sustainable product offer- ings which support LEED and other green building programs," says Lafarge Canada Stormwater Specialist Graham Fuga. Marietta Silos, part of Ohio-based Marietta Group, has acquired the assets of San-Con Industries in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Founded in 1995, San-Con Industries has serviced grain, agribusiness, food processing, industrial, energy, and mining markets with design, construction, inspection, modification and consultative services associated with bulk storage silos and allied applications. "San-Con has remained a force in silo construction and service by largely serving markets parallel to those we have known throughout our 100-year history," says Marietta Silos CEO Dennis Blauser. "San-Con has built a rep- utation as an excellent provider of silo construction, repair and inspection work. Their staff [and] equipment resources will make an ideal complement to those of Marietta Silos." BRIEFS ACTIVITIES & APPOINTMENTS Gate Precast Co. has named industry veteran Mo Wright to the newly created position of marketing director. His 15 years in precast production span sales and marketing, estimating and project management positions. At Jacksonville, Fla.-based Gate Precast, he will educate architects, owners and contractors across the country about the various uses of architectural and structural precast, as well as collaborate on design-assist projects. A University of Alabama grad- uate, Wright will show designers how to achieve randomness in profiles, textures and materials to create iconic facades, as precast mold techniques have evolved from monolithic, repetitive and non-articulated to more nonlinear surfaces.
