The Concrete Decor Show, September 25-29 at
the Town and Country Resort & Convention
Center in San Diego, will feature decorative
concrete workshops and seminars by leading
industry authorities, plus a three-day trade
show with indoor or outdoor displays and
demonstrations.
As part of the event, a nonprofit orga-
nization is selected to receive a makeover,
complements of show organizer, Concrete
Decor magazine and Eugene, Ore.-based Pro-
Trade Publications. This year's recipient is
the Bannister Family House, which provides a
home-like environment for people with family
members in long-term or critical care at the
University of California, San Diego Medical
Center. Improvements will include a built-in
barbecue, carved concrete rock features, and
a decorative concrete patio complete with
a stained tree of life-like design and inlaid
LithoMosaic. San Diego-based architect
Amanda Conahan and flatwork ace T.B. Penick
& Sons have created the Bannister Family
House conceptual concrete designs.
In addition to concrete-centric classes
and displays, the Paint Decor Annex will fea-
ture exhibits, demonstrations and workshops
devoted to decorative painting and faux fin-
ishing techniques for floors, furniture, walls or
ceilings. Coatings professionals and concrete
artisans can take advantage of classes spon-
sored by the International Decorative Artisans
League to improve their skills and discover
new products. — ProTrade Publications,
