22 • March 2016 NEWS SCOPE BY DON MARSH Leading major World of Concrete 2016 rollouts was the Internation- al HX Series, available in 115- and 120-in. bumper-to-back-of-cab (bbc), set-forward or set-back axle versions. Navistar Inc. CEO Troy Clarke characterized the HX as "an opportunity to recapture a lead- ing position in the vocational market—a segment we previously led. The launch underscores our commitment to innovation, dedication to uptime and position as a leader." The HX is equipped with an aluminum cab, billed as the only one on the market dedicated to vocational trucking conditions, and a three-piece Metton hood with weight and strength characteristics besting fiberglass alternatives. It succeeds the aluminum cab PayStar Series, launched in 1999 and based on a legacy model from the early 1970s, and becomes International's primary truck offering for con- struction users, joining the steel cab WorkStar line. Navistar showed three models in Las Vegas: the Navistar N13-pow- ered, 115-in. bbc HX515 and HX615, with set-forward and set-back axle design, respectively; and, the Cummins ISX15-powered, 120-in. bbc HX620, a set-back design.
