6 • August 2014 www.concreteproducts.com NEWS SCOPE READY MIXED A definitive agreement with Aggregate Industries US, centered on ready mixed production and fleet assets at 14 Meyer Material Co. sites, has netted Ozinga Bros. Inc. an expanded footprint across seven northern Illinois counties. The deal transfers concrete plant operation and delivery to Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete, while Aggregate Industries/Meyer Material maintains six aligned sand & gravel properties. The Meyer ready mixed plants have limited overlap with about one-third of the 21 sites comprising Ozinga RMC's fagship business serving Chicago and Cook Coun- ty, plus towns or counties primarily to the south or west. The Meyer feet has been partially integrated with Ozin- ga RMC's central dispatch offce, adjacent to Mokena, Ill., headquarters. Dispatchers in the south suburban Chicago offce handle upwards of 500 mixers in northern Illinois and Indiana, the latter home to 11 additional Ozinga RMC plants. Holcim (US) Inc. acquired Des Plaines, Ill.-based Meyer Material in 2006, placing the operator's Illinois, Milwaukee and southern Wisconsin properties under the Aggregate Industries Midwest Region. Holcim (US) can supply northern Illinois and Indiana cement customers through its Ste. Genevieve, Mo., plant located along the Mississippi River, plus a grinding mill on Chicago's far south side. Ozinga RMC integrates Aggregate Industries/Meyer Material's Illinois sites A North Chicago, Ill., plant Concrete Products visited earlier this year is among Meyer Material sites extending the Ozinga RMC footprint.
